▪️VPN Fail-Over

EnGenius offers a robust VPN failover feature to ensure continuous connectivity even if the primary WAN connection fails. This feature is designed to provide redundancy and enhance network reliability, particularly for critical business operations that require constant internet access.

How VPN Failover Works:

1. Primary and Secondary WAN Connections: The ESG can be configured with both primary and secondary WAN connections. The system automatically determines which connection to use for VPN operations. By default, the VPN runs on the primary WAN connection.

2. USB Cellular Dongle: When a USB cellular dongle is used, it also participates in the VPN failover process. This provides an additional layer of redundancy.

3. Automatic Detection and Failover: The ESG continuously monitors the status of the primary WAN connection. If the primary connection becomes unavailable due to issues such as network failure or ISP problems, the ESG automatically detects this disruption and switches the VPN to the secondary WAN connection, which could be either WAN2 or the USB cellular dongle. If both primary and secondary connections fail, the VPN will switch to the tertiary WAN, which could be either WAN2 (if not already used as secondary) or the USB cellular dongle. This failover process is designed to be quick, minimizing downtime and ensuring that network services remain uninterrupted.

4. Revert to Primary: Once the primary WAN connection is restored, the ESG can automatically revert to using the primary WAN for VPN operations, maintaining optimal network performance and reliability.
